YBTS together with Agriterra, supported by Stichting De Eik, has officially started a collaborative initiative to strengthen farming practices through a more participatory approach that is adapted to local conditions across partner farming communities.
Through a series of learning activities and mentoring processes with cooperatives and farmers, the program focuses on promoting Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), strengthening farmer capacity, and supporting more effective and sustainable cultivation systems.
During the initial phase of the program, the team is exploring various farming practices already implemented by farmers, including intercropping systems that help improve land-use efficiency while supporting crop diversification. The activities also provide insights into opportunities for strengthening market access through partnerships with established buyers from the food and agricultural industry sectors.
Moving forward, this collaboration is expected to support the development of locally adapted cultivation SOPs that are more relevant, practical, and easier for farmers within each cooperative to implement. Through this shared learning process, YBTS and Agriterra aim to contribute to more adaptive, productive, and sustainable farming systems for local farming communities.
