Abdul Mujib initially worked as a rice farmer. Now, he is one of the farmers supported by Yayasan Bina Tani Sejahtera di Prafi Mulya Village, Prafi District, Manokwari Regency. When field officers (TFO) from YBTS visited, Pak Mujib shared that he was interested in learning to cultivate shallots from seeds (TSS). With assistance from the TFO, he started the seedbed process, and the results of the seedlings were quite good. After transplanting, Pak Mujib managed to harvest up to 130 kg of shallot bulbs with a selling price of around Rp 40,000 per kg.
His success influenced surrounding farmers’, encouraging them to try cultivating shallots from seed. Other farmers in Prafi Mulya Village joined in preparing seeds for seedbeds, such as Pak Rohani who sowed 1 kg of seeds, Pak Ujiono and Pak Itro each sewed 500 gr, Pak Renis sowed 100 gr, Pak Tadi sowed 200 grams, and Pak Wagimin sowed 400 grams.
Observing Pak Mujib’s enthusiasm and success in cultivating shallots from seeds, other farmers became interested in the potential for greater profits and wanted to experience the same positive changes. They realized that in life, progress cannot be achieved without taking risks and trying new things. Pak Mujib became a source of motivation and pioneer in shallot cultivation from seeds in his village. He gathered local farmers, shared knowledge about cultivating shallots from seeds, learned together through experiences, and provided mutual support for each other.
