Women Farmers Improve Family Livelihood

Women farmers are very active and involved in vegetable farming activities because this effort brings good results in terms of earning income through farming and gardening at home as well as supplying vegetable nutrition for the household.

YBTS has taken various ways to encourage women to farm, including through:

  • Yard gardens (< 200 m2) are the starting point for women to want to garden.
  • Explanation through mixed farmer groups with the start of planting leafy vegetables (kale, spinach) as a start monitored by TFO
  • Forming women’s farmer groups and conducting training, as well as opening access to markets

After receiving assistance from YBTS, female farmers can use their land more effectively, especially for leafy vegetables. In addition, women farmers are able to meet their daily needs and improve the family’s economy.

In 2021, YBTS has served around 8,000 female farmers (43%) of the total assisted farmers.
