Leleseng Village in North Halmahera has become one of the growing centers of youth agricultural empowerment through the Let’s Grow! program. One inspiring story comes from Mama Kristina, a Youth Batch 5 participant who is currently harvesting her beans for the eighth picking season.
During a recent field monitoring visit conducted by the facilitation team, Mama Kristina showed positive progress in her bean cultivation activities. With bean prices currently reaching IDR 15,000/kg in Kao Barat, North Halmahera, this harvest has become a promising additional source of income for her family.
Mama Kristina’s journey reflects the importance of continuous learning, consistency, and mentoring in agricultural development. Through regular cultivation practices and technical assistance provided by the program, participants are encouraged not only to improve their farming skills but also to strengthen their independence in managing agricultural businesses.
Reaching the eighth harvest picking is an important milestone that demonstrates the potential of horticultural farming to improve rural livelihoods, especially for women and young farmers. Beyond economic benefits, farming activities also help build participants’ confidence and motivation to continue growing in the agricultural sector.
Mama Kristina’s story is one example of how the Let’s Grow! program continues to create meaningful impact by supporting rural communities in building more sustainable sources of livelihood through agriculture.
