Building Farmers’ Learning Spirit through FGD

Nabire

Knowledge Transfer & Extension – Central Papua

Through Forum Group Discussion (FGD) activities, Yayasan Bina Tani Sejahtera (YBTS) continues to create collaborative learning spaces for farmers in Nabire. The activity serves as a platform for farmers to discuss, share experiences, and strengthen cultivation knowledge that can be directly applied in the field.

During this FGD, farmers learned about the importance of selecting quality seeds, identifying genuine and counterfeit seeds, and using proper seedling media. This knowledge is essential because seed quality and nursery practices greatly influence plant growth and overall harvest results.

The discussion atmosphere was active and open. Farmers shared their experiences and challenges during cultivation, from the nursery process to maintaining optimal plant growth. Through these simple discussions, farmers were encouraged to continue learning and trying better cultivation practices.

Through a participatory approach that is closely connected to farmers’ needs, YBTS hopes that the knowledge built together can be directly implemented on their farms. Small steps, such as understanding seed quality and proper seedling media, play an important role in supporting more productive and sustainable harvests.
