Persistence in Learning Brings Life Change

Top Rony is a transmigrant from Java currently residing in Mami Jaya Village, Yaur District, Nabire Regency. Initially, Pak Rony worked as a rough laborer as a logging operator. However, after experiencing a workplace accident, he decided to switch to farming. The presence of field officers (TFO) from Yayasan Bina Tani Sejahtera brought new hope to Pak Rony and his family. He decided to learn how to grow shallots from seeds, starting from the seedling process, through care, and up to harvest, even though this was his first experience.
Pak Rony planted the Lokananta shallot varieties on a plot of land covering approximately 200 m2. From this area, he managed to harvest around 200 kg of dried shallot bulbs. Even though the results obtained were not optimal, Mr. Rony felt proud of the results he had obtained. After personally experiencing the harvest, he was determined to continue developing shallot cultivation from seeds, utilizing the knowledge he had acquired, and, of course, expanding the cultivation to a larger area.
“My family and I would like to thank YBTS; thanks to their guidance and support, I succeeded in growing shallots from seeds. Now, I see a brighter future and am confident in achieving more satisfying shallot harvests,” concluded Pak Rony.
