Grobogan farmers are discovering biochar, an eco-friendly technology that enriches soil, strengthens crops, and promotes sustainable agriculture.

From the eastern corner of Indonesia, in Keerom, Papua, comes the inspiring story of Kaka Olaiy Komba, a local farmer taking bold steps toward resilient farming. Once limited to cultivating local chilies for daily needs, Kaka Olaiy is now the first Papuan farmer to plant Curly Red Chili (Tangguh F1 variety) on his 500 m² plot. With hands-on guidance from YBTS Technical Field Officers, he is learning modern cultivation techniques—from seedling preparation to pest management. His dedication, including the use of fruit fly traps as preventive control, marks a new chapter of hope for better harvests and stronger farming communities in Papua.

From a small field in Dukwia, a big change began to grow. Kaka Nius Tabuni not only succeeded in harvesting Pak Choi, but also revived the spirit of farming in his village. This is the story of a local Papuan farmer who became a driver of change.

Yayasan Bina Tani Sejahtera (YBTS) recently brought together 28 farmers in Sambawofuar Village, Biak Numfor, for a dynamic Focus Group Discussion (FGD) focused on growing and succeeding together. Through open dialogue, shared experiences, and a joyful harvest of Nauli Pakcoy, the event embodied YBTS’s commitment to collaborative knowledge transfer and sustainable farming.
