Visit of the Minister to YBTS Booth at EWINDO’s 35th Anniversary Celebration

To commemorate the 35th anniversary of PT East West Seed Indonesia (EWINDO), guests from across Indonesia gathered at EWINDO’s main office in Purwakarta. The event celebrated EWINDO’s contributions to the agricultural sector, particularly its innovation in developing high-quality vegetable seeds. It also served as a platform for collaboration among partners with a shared vision to advance national agriculture and support food security.

Yayasan Bina Tani Sejahtera (YBTS), as part of EWINDO’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, participated through an interactive booth showcasing its farmer assistance initiatives in Eastern Indonesia (Maluku, Papua, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara) and Java.

Minister’s Visit and Appreciation for Program Impact

The presence of the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Rachmat Pambudy, was a proud moment for EWINDO and highlighted the significant role of the private sector in supporting farmers and strengthening food resilience. In his speech, he emphasized: “Food self-sufficiency is a national priority. EWINDO plays a critical role in enhancing the productivity and livelihood of Indonesian farmers.”

Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Rachmat Pambudy, and Dr. Ir. Edwin S. Saragih, Chairman of YBTS, walked together to YBTS booth.

During his visit to the YBTS booth, Prof. Dr. Ir. Rachmat Pambudy received a direct explanation from Dr. Ir. Edwin S. Saragih, Chairman of YBTS, about the foundation’s farmer assistance programs. These include technical cultivation training, farmer group strengthening, and education on the use of high-quality seeds and sustainable farming practices. Prof. Dr. Ir. Rachmat Pambudy expressed his appreciation for YBTS’s efforts in reaching farmers in Eastern Indonesia, where access to agricultural extension services remains limited.

Supporting Farmer Livelihood in Eastern Indonesia

For the past 15 years, YBTS has consistently implemented community-based farmer assistance programs across various provinces. By 2025, more than 100,000 farmers have benefited from activities such as vegetable cultivation training, field days, and farm business sessions. The tangible impacts of these programs include:

  • Increase vegetable crop productivity
  • Improved farmer income
  • Enhanced local food availability

In addition, YBTS actively encourages the involvement of young farmers and women, contributing to farmer regeneration and the creation of agriculture-based economic opportunities.

Synergy for Sustainable Agriculture

YBTS’s participation in EWINDO 35th anniversary celebration affirms that collaboration is key to building a resilient and inclusive agricultural ecosystem. Through this partnership, YBTS not only promotes the use of high-quality seeds but also ensures that farmers gain the knowledge needed to maximize their potential.

The YBTS booth featured documentation of various programs and projects from Eastern Indonesia and Java, including harvest data, farmer testimonials, and program achievements. Visitors could directly witness YBTS’s transformative approach in improving farming practices, increasing yields, enhancing farmers’ livelihoods, and promoting social and environmental sustainability.

In resilience, we strive to improve farmers’ livelihoods!
