Sowing Courage, Robinson Reaps Success as a Young Farmer in Sumba

Robinson Ngindi from Wanno Ritta Village, Southwest Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, is one of the young participants in the Let’s Grow Program, an initiative to empower young farmers supported by the Ganesha Foundation. Through this prpgram, Robinson receives mentoring, training, and learning opportunities that accelerate his progress in vegetable farming.

In Planting Season 1, Robinson successfully grew cabbage, pakcoy, and string beans. Entering Season 2, he began with string bean cultivation and earned around Rp 3.2 million. Not stopping there, he continued by planting cucumbers and once again achieved encouraging results, harvesting around 2 tons and earning up to Rp 4.2 million.

These achievements stem from his dedication in the field and his commitment to continous learning. Robinson actively joins training sessions and mentoring provided by the Technical Field Officer, then applies the knowledge to manage his land independently. From season to season, his production and sales, supported by the Market Access & Connectivity Officer, continue to increase.

From Wanno Ritta, Robinson shares an inspiring message for young farmers: “Don’t be afraid to try, and don’t hesitate to take the first step. With determination and the willingness to learn, every effor can bear fruit.”
