In Lawe Loning Sepakat Village, Southeast Aceh Regency, Norma Simarmata demonstrates how perseverance and a willingness to keep learning can make a meaningful difference in farming. Cultivating around 1,500 Guarda yardlong bean plants, this growing season has become a testament to the idea that dedication and consistent effort eventually lead to rewarding results. 

To maintain healthy field conditions, Norma applies plastic mulch to help retain soil moisture, suppress weed growth, and create a better environment for her crops to thrive. This simple yet effective practice has supported healthier plant growth as the crop reaches harvest. 

“I believe that as long as we are willing to learn and keep trying, there is always a way to achieve better results. Farming requires patience, but every growing season teaches us something new.”

Behind the rows of thriving plants lies a determination to keep improving. Every farming practice that Norma learns and applies becomes a valuable lesson, giving her greater confidence for the next planting season. 

Through the support and mentoring of Yayasan Bina Tani Sejahtera (YBTS), farmers have greater access to knowledge about good agricultural practices, including women who play an essential role in managing their farms. Opportunities to learn and adopt new techniques empower them to continuously improve their cultivation practices and strengthen their farming livelihoods.
