Knowledge Transfer & Extension – Maluku

Context and Project Objective

The Knowledge Transfer & Extension Program – Maluku, supported by East-West Seed Indonesia (Cap Panah Merah), aims to strengthen farmers’ capacity through training activities, demonstration plots (demplots), and Farmer Field Day/Expo as platforms for learning, practicing, and sharing successful experiences in horticultural cultivation.

In 2025, the program expanded to Aru Islands and Kobisonta, bringing the total program coverage to eight areas, namely Buru Island, Piru, Ambon, Masohi, Kobisonta, Saumlaki, Tual, and the Aru Islands.

Expected Outcomes

  • Increased knowledge and skills of farmers in good agricultural practices (GAP)
  • Strengthened local economy through enhanced agricultural productivity
  • Improved nutritional resilience in the community through more efficient and sustainable farming practices

Location

Maluku Province: Buru Island, Piru, Ambon, Masohi, Kobisonta, Saumlaki, Tual, and the Aru Islands.

Achievment

In 2025, the program reached 3,286 farmers, consisting of 2,004 men and 1,282 women, who received training and mentoring on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) through various activities such as farmer trainings, learning demonstration plots, focus group discussions (FGDs), and Farmer Field Days (FFDs).
