Adrian's Perseverance as a Millennial Farmer in Nabire
Adrian Wakum, a 24-year-old youth, has been one of the successful millennial farmers supported by YBTS since 2021. Adrian comes from Tanjung Lagari Village, Teluk Kimi District, Nabire Regency and known for his characteristic, very strong dialect, which always says, "Even though I'm just a farmer, I never lack money."
Adrian stands out as one of the thriving millennial farmers in his village. Previously employed in a traditional gold mine, he decided to switch to agriculture as his livelihood due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Adrian’s farming journey began by planting 2 kg of Bangkok variety water spinach seeds, resulting in a harvest worth IDR 1,500,000. With a strong willingness to learn and determination, he ventured into cultivating Dewata 43 F1 variety of chili peppers on a land area of 500 m2. His efforts certainly paid off; in the first planting season, he managed to make a profit of IDR 10,000,000. In 2023, Adrian continued to expand farming land. The proceeds from his harvest are utilized as capital of farming and to meet his family’s needs.
