Turning Ordinary Field into Extraordinary Field
Yayasan Bina Tani Sejahtera (YBTS) is firmly committed to providing continuous support and sharing agricultural knowledge with farmers in Indonesia. YBTS has been actively involved in assisting farmers, particularly in the Eastern Indonesia region, as evidenced by their efforts in Nabire Regency since 2018. One of the farmers who has received significant support from YBTS is Pak Abondandifu, a resident of Rawawudo Village in the Teluk Kimi District, who has been collaborating with YBTS since 2021.
Pak Abondandifu, aged 53, had previously practiced traditional farming methods. However, from the outset of his collaboration with YBTS, he decided to transition and began cultivating Dewata 76 F1 chili peppers. The results from his chili pepper cultivation yielded a profit of IDR 9,000,000 in a single growing season. This was an extraordinary achievement for him, considering his prior experience was limited to basic farming practices. His success earned him recognition within the local community as a prosperous farmer.
In 2023, Pak Abondandifu started actively assisting and mentoring novice farmers in his vicinity, teaching them the proper and effective techniques of vegetable cultivation. He stated, "I believe that with discipline and correct cultivation techniques, Papuan farmers can attain a higher level of prosperity. Mastery of these cultivation techniques will significantly enhance the economic well-being of families. I am grateful to YBTS for their support," Pak Abondandifu added with a smile.
