Vegetables Technology and Regional Expo in Holo village, Amahai subdistrict, Moluccas

Yayasan Bina Tani Sejahtera (YBTS), supported by PT East West Seed Indonesia (EWINDO) started the extension and knowledge transfer activity in May, 2017. We selected “Harapan Tani” farmer group in Holo village, Amahai subdistrict, Moluccas, which is led by Bapak Ahmad. We grew 9 varieties of vegetables from Cap Panah  Merah.

YBTS and Harapan Tani farmer group, supported by EWINDO, organized a vegetable technology and regional expo on October, 26 to 27, 2017 by theme “Let’s grow vegetable for increasing family economy and nutrition”. This event was attended by 243 farmers and the local government. It started by the opening speech from Dr Edwin Saragih as the YBTS chairperson and continued to the welcoming speech by Bapak Yessy Mole as the Head of Extension, Department of Food Crops and Horticulture Central Maluku District.

All the participants visited the demo field of Harapan Tani farmer group with Bapak Novemmy Adrian (Marketing Representative EWINDO) and Bapak Razu Adiawan (Product Promotor EWINDO). The EWINDO’s staffs also explained about product information of Cap Panah Merah, especially the 9 varieties grown in the demo field. After that, all participants visited the extension booth. Paschalis (Technical Field Officer of YBTS) did the extension to participants in 30 minutes. The topics explained were about seed selection, land preparation, fertilization and the use of pesticide. We used the extension material from East West Seed Knowledge Transfer and vegIMPACT to explained about the Good Agricultural Practices.

We hope that, from this event, people can get the accurate product information of Cap Panah Merah, the Good Agricultural Practices and the importance of vegetable consumption for body health.
