In Lawe Tawakh Village, Babul Makmur Subdistrict, a woman farmer is proving that small changes in farming practices can lead to significant results. She is Bu Dewi, a key farmer in the KTE Aceh-North Sumatra Program.
This planting season, Bu Dewi cultivated long beans of the Guarda variety from Cap Panah Merah. At first, she followed her usual farming methods. But through YBTS monitoring, she gradually adopted Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).

She improved her land preparation, creating neater beds to ensure better drainage. She also started using higher-quality seeds for more uniform plant growth. As the plants developed, Bu Dewi practiced balanced fertilization according to recommendations and monitored pests regularly so that control could be done more quickly and accurately.
These adjustments brough clear results. In just four harvest rounds, Bu Dewi produced 91 kg of long beans. Her plants appeared healthier, the yields were more consistent, and fieldwork became more efficient because each activity followed a structured schedule.
Bu Dewi’s journey shows how consistent application of GAP can lead to better harvests while also strengthening her confidence as a woman farmer in Aceh Tenggara.
